My husband and I always like to support local businesses and small chains. This place is phenomenal. The food was fresh, hot and fast! I'm allergic to shellfish but was able to enjoy the sausage platter with eggs, potatoes with garlic butter sauce and old bay seasoning. I was so excited because most crab places don't have a way to cater to those of us who love the flavor but can't eat the seafood. My husband ordered a build your own platter. I can't describe all that he had but it was reasonably priced and he took a lot home. We'll be back. TY to the owner and our server who was more than gracious! Oh had to come back about the corn on the cob. Everything was great!
You know what? We had a wonderful lunch experience here at Bay Crab Juicy Seafood in Temple Terrace. I had read previous reviews and the experiences were mixed. I know there are many restaurants in the Tampa Bay area that have this concept, but I feel like the service, quality, quantity, and taste was totally worthy at lunch time. I had an awesome green mussel seafood boil bag for under $10. It included corn on the cob and a red skin potato. I chose the Bay Crab Special sauce which is a blend of cajun, lemon pepper, and garlic butter sauces. Totally tasty and delicious! The mussels were way larger than the usual black mussels. You do get less but you have to remember that it's by weight. The lunch offerings are half pound servings which are perfect for me. My friend had the shrimp, and we basically shared with each other. You have plates, bibs, forks, gloves, and hand wipes at each table. There's even a bucket to discard any unwanted shells. It was all super sanitary, and Alex provided great service. I loved that he did the shaking of the bag to disperse the sauce evenly. Every bite had that wonderful sauce. He answered any questions that we had. He did an awesome job. I think the only thing I can suggest is to maybe offer ramen noodles as an add on. I do see that they offer steamed rice, and I think that would also be a perfect way to soak up the sauce as well. I know of only one place that offers ramen noodles in the bay area. It's unique and just another great way to soak up that delicious sauce that is leftover in the bag. So, hopefully they will take this feedback for what it's worth and add that to the menu. But hey, I can always order rice if I want a hearty lunch meal. I didn't need it though with the corn and the potato. I would definitely go back if ever in the area. I'm also super excited that they opened up a new location in the Valrico area. I can't wait to try it since it's closer to home.
Unique experience. I had hot shrimp. It comes in a bag, piping hot. Server will roll it down for you and off you go. Plastic gloves and apron are a must and provided. Seemed to be very efficient and quick with our orders. Food comes out as it is cooked so not all in your party will begin at the same time. I liked the idea, food not sitting under a heat lamp while waiting for "that guy" In your group that just had to order something special. Kind of an odd thing, for me anyway is you can get, as listed on the menu, an egg. A hard boiled egg. Wife got one and said she would have never thought to do it but it went perfectly with her crab cake and fried shrimp. Huh.... The crab cakes were fantastic. 100%real crab, fresh and seemed to be made on site. My only regret was we didn't order more than one. Most places put too much onion or bell pepper or whatever and leaves the crab buried, these the crab was up front and tasty. Well be back.
Traveling for work from south Louisiana and had to see what this type of boiled seafood was about. Did the garlic butter sauce with mild heat and found the flavor was very good. Crab legs were good, and the boiled eggs were a neat option and good flavor. Only thing that I found disappointing was the combo options. Wish there was an option for picking your favorite seafood to make a combo outside of the current offering.
The food was delicious and hot. It felt like it just went right out the back instead of waiting in the back like at most other places. Katerin was a fine server though we had to wait a little bit I understood because it seemed like it was just her. She did check on us to make sure we were all good. Ty was a good manager who tended to us when we needed help. In general a place with really good and hot food if be it a little slow but it's worth it.
